Absolutely Adorable Puppet Paper Plate Craft Your Preschooler Will Love
Keep your preschool entertained with this fun puppet paper plate craft! Not only will they have a blast creating there own puppet, but they will probably spend hours putting on a show afterwards.
Kids could have all the toys in the world, but at some point in the day you are going to hear, “I’m bored.”
Creating adorable puppets out of paper plates is a fun craft for children of all ages. I even had fun when I helped my son make his!
One of the best things about this craft, is you can completely customize it and use items you have around your house!
We are a crafty family so I had a lot of these items on hand already.
The items in my paper plate craft can be used for several other craft projects!
Now Let’s Create!
For this Puppet Paper Plate Craft, we are using: white paper plates, popsicle sticks, feathers, pompoms, googly eyes, colorful construction paper, and markers. You will also need the following tools: a glue stick, liquid glue (or hot glue gun) and scissors.
All the items in the photo are from my local Hobby Lobby. However all these items are also available on Amazon, Michael’s or your local craft store.
STEP ONE
Have your preschooler cut strips of construction paper, 2 strips for legs and 2 strips for arms.
Then folded the paper back and forth, accordion style.
STEP TWO & THREE
This part is where your preschooler gets to let their creativity flow free!
My son used a marker to dot where he wanted his puppet’s eyes and nose to go. Then he used markers to color in pants and a shirt.
Once he was done, we attached the construction paper arms and legs. to the back of the plate. As well as the googly eyes and a pompom for the nose.
STEP FOUR
Once the face, arms, and legs are glued on. Use the feathers to make some crazy hair!
(After some trial and error, we put a bunch of glue on the stop and then put the feathers on. It was easier than glueing each feather…and less messy.)
STEP FIVE
When your puppet has hair, glue a popsicle stick to the back of the paper plate and let it dry!
We waited about 20-30 minutes to make sure all the glue was set.
During the dry time, we came up with names for our puppets and a storyline!
I hope you enjoy making this puppet paper plate craft with your preschooler! I certainly did!
